What Is Merkel Cell Carcinoma?

Merkel's cell [1] was first described by FS Merkel in 1875. It is a short finger-shaped cell distributed between basal cells of the epidermis of the whole body. Tactile receptor-rich areas (such as fingertips, nasal tips, oral mucosa, palms, fingers, toes, lips and genitals, hair follicles) are unbranched and connected with desmosomes to keratinocytes, which is usually considered a type of Cells and have neuroendocrine functions.
